Vienna's most opulent park
Extending over around 160 hectares it was placed on the UNESCO list of world heritage sites and is an outstanding example of baroque garden design. This tour is not only for people with a historic or cultural interest, but also for those who want to get away from the busy city for a couple of hours to enjoy time in nature.
Severely clipped hedges forming passageways, avenues and small openings will guide us to little squares, small enclosures and fascinating monuments. Along the way we will talk about the meaning of those monuments, of hidden messages in the park and of the powerful creators of all of this. We will take in the stunning view from the Gloriette hill and marvel at grand structures such as the Neptune fountain, palm house, Roman ruins and an abundance of marble sculptures.
Although receiving about four million visitors every year, most of them miss out on the many hidden corners and avenues providing surprising vistas. After the highlights we will hence leave the main area behind us and discover some of the quiet parts of the park as well.
